Džon je kasnije osetio da nešto nije u redu, primetio je veliki otok na stomaku i otišao kod lekara, tada mu je saopšteno da njegovo srce radi na samo deset odsto kapaciteta i njegova borba za život počinje.

Bila mu je neophodna transplantacija i bilo samo pitanje trenutka kada će njegovo srce stati.

Iz bolnice otišao na svoje venčanje

Na svoju odgovornost je otišao na venčanje u kolicima iako je bio na korak od smrti. Vratio se nakon venčanja i čekao novo srce.

I came to Penn for simple issue with my PICC line and they figured why not check me out and do a right heart catheterization. Well, I’m glad they did. My heart wasn’t working as it should have with the 24/7 medicine I was already receiving. They admitted me almost a week ago and told me to make myself at home, because I won’t be leaving here until I have a new heart. It hasn’t gotten real for me until today when they came to me and said I’ll need a mechanical device to assist my heart as I wait patiently in my new temporary home. The medicine isn’t working and I need more time. I can’t even describe the emotions I’m feeling now as I count down the last hour or so to go under the knife and receive the “World’s Smallest Heart Pump”. I’m so incredibly grateful for my wife, family & friends support, University of Penn Hospital, and most importantly God. My faith is the strongest it has ever been now. I can feel his presence in my room as I prepare for one of the most important surgeries.
