Consultations on election of Vice-President and working bodies of the Assembly of Serbia

The parliamentary mandates were confirmed on February 6, and in the continuation of the constitutive session, the MPs will discuss the remaining points - the election of the President of the National Assembly, the election of the Vice President of the National Assembly, the appointment of the Secretary General, the election of members of the working bodies of the National Assembly, the election of members of permanent parliamentary delegations in international institutions.The continuation of the constitutive session was originally scheduled for March 11, and it was supposed to discuss only the election of the president of the assembly, however, at the meeting of the parties with the majority, as reported by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, it was decided to postpone it for seven days to prepare the election of the vice president.The Presidency of the Serbian Progressive Party previously nominated Ana Brnabić, who was the Prime Minister of Serbia for seven years, as the President of the National Assembly. After the announcement of her candidacy, Brnabić said that the new position will be a big challenge for her and that she has to learn a lot, and she also pointed out that in the position of the President of the Assembly, for which she was nominated, she will be open to dialogue as much as possible and that she will pray to reduce tensions in the parliament.She said that she will try with all her might to introduce even more public to the work of the Serbian Parliament, through public hearings, debates, various events and that she will work to strengthen our parliamentary diplomacy.When it comes to the procedure related to the election of the president, the Rules of Procedure provide that the proposal of a candidate for the president of the National Assembly is submitted by at least 30 MPs.Before proceeding to the election of the Speaker of the Parliament, the National Assembly decides whether the vote will be held in secret or in public, and the Speaker of the National Assembly is elected by a deputy who was voted for by the majority of the total number of MPs.The number of vice-presidents of the National Assembly is determined on the proposal of the Speaker of the Parliament, and according to the Rules of Procedure, at least 30 MPs can propose one or more candidates for the vice-president of the National Assembly, but up to the number of vice-presidents determined by decision.The proposal of a candidate for the vice-president of the National Assembly is submitted to the President of the National Assembly, in written form, and the President of the National Assembly delivers all received candidate proposals to the MPs.The proposer&#39;s representative has the right to explain the candidate&#39;s proposal, on which the hearing is opened, so that after the hearing, the President of the National Assembly will determine the list of candidates for vice-presidents. As with the election of the president, the National Assembly decides whether the vote will be secret or public.The candidate who was voted for by the majority of the total number of MPs was elected as the vice-president of the National Assembly.The Rules of Procedure also stipulate that the General Secretary is appointed upon the proposal of the Speaker of the Parliament. The continuation of the session for next Monday was scheduled by the oldest MP Stojan Radenović, and as he said earlier, the discussion about the President of the Serbian Parliament could last two or three days. Radenović will preside over the session until the election of the President of the National Assembly, in which he will be assisted by one of the youngest MPs from the four electoral lists that won the largest number of parliamentary mandates: Aleksandar Djukić in front of the &quot;Serbia must not stop&quot; list, Anastasija Baković in front of the &quot;Serbia against violence&quot; list&quot;, Marko Milo&scaron;ević in front of the list &quot;Ivica Dačić-Prime Minister of Serbia&quot; and Slavica &Scaron;krbić from the NADA coalition.The constitutive session of the Assembly of Serbia began on February 6, when the mandates of 250 deputies were confirmed and thus the new convocation of the parliament was constituted.After the confirmation of the mandate, the MPs took the oath, while the MPs of the opposition took the oath in the hall. Before the continuation of the constitutive session, 16 parliamentary groups were formed in the Serbian Parliament.
