Gates said this during a discussion with Jeremy Hunt, chairman of the British Parliament's Health and Welfare Committee and former British health minister during the COP26 summit.

The founder of "Microsoft" called for the formation of a global pandemic "strike team" in the World Health Organization.

"It takes about a billion a year for a pandemic 'strike team' in the WHO, which would deal with surveillance and what I call the Games of Germs, that is, practicing responses," Gates said. He also gave an example of how terrorists could attack several airports at the same time with the smallpox virus, so that could be one of the scenarios for practicing in the "Germ Games" in order to prepare for a possible attack.

He explained that there are naturally caused epidemics, but that they can also be a consequence of bioterrorism and as such can be worse than natural. However, as he added, advances in science should give us tools for a better response than we have now.

The billionaire said that countries such as the United States and Great Britain should invest tens of billions in research and development in order to be ready for the next pandemic.

He also stated that he hopes that the world will be prepared in five years to respond to a possible new pandemic, but that this requires a comprehensive investment in development and research.

"This could lead to many innovations, and in order to be ready for a possible new pandemic, we need to eradicate the flu and cold, make vaccines cheap, have large factories, make vaccines that could be in the form of a small patch that you put on hand, and all that would be very useful even if there is no pandemic, Gates said, Sky News reports.
