Serbian Kosovo Ministry State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic met with UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier to discuss the situation in Kosovska Mitrovica. They agreed that “no sides should make any unilateral moves, because that leads to the destabilization of the situation on the ground.” Ivanovic meets with UNMIK chief According to a statement from the Ministry, Ivanovic said that he expects UNMIK to help in solving the water supply problems in northern Mitrovica and Zvecane, for which the EU has set aside funds. Ivanovic said that the situation in the province is calm, but that it is complicated in the political sense, which opens the possibility of greater participation by UNMIK in solving everyday problems. He said that UNMIK is one element that must make communication between Serbs and Albanians and Serbs and officials of the International Civil Office (ICO) easier, because UNMIK works according to UN Resolution 1244, which is acceptable to all sides. Ivanovic asked Zannier to “be clear and strict in condemning individual incidents in the reports he sends periodically,” according to the statement.
