Suspected cocaine boss Darko Saric is in Switzerland, Podgorica-based daily Vijesti writes today, quoting “a diplomat from an influential country”. Serbia is looking for Saric, currently a fugitive from justice, and has expressed concern that he might be hiding in Montenegro. Montenegrin daily: Saric is in Switzerland But now the daily says that Montenegro-born Saric, who is known to carry Serbian and Slovakian passports, is in fact in Switzerland. “Everybody knows that,“ the daily quoted its diplomatic source as saying. Montenegrin police have on several occasions stated that Saric was hiding “in a European country”, and that they were in contact with police of that country. Two days ago, police in Montenegro said that Saric illegally left the country before Interpol office in Podgorica learned that Serbia had issued an international arrest warrant for him. The warrant was issued on January 21. Meanwhile, Serbian MUP said that Saric's Serbian passport “is not biometric”. The suspect received Serbian citizenship on May 30, 2005, his old ID card was issued on May 25, 2004, and the new, biometric one on January 26, 2009. But his passport is of the “blue”, FRY (Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) variety, and was issued on November 11, 2005, MUP said today. Saric and his gang are suspected of attempting to organize a massive cocaine smuggling operation, that was to ship more than two tons of cocaine from South America to Europe.
