Truce violated: They attacked, there are dead
Two people were killed in an Israeli attack in eastern Lebanon, despite the ceasefire that has been in effect since the end of November between Israel and the Hezbollah movement, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced today.
"In the Israeli enemy attack, two people were killed, while ten were wounded," the announcement states.
The Israeli army announced this morning that during the night it attacked several targets of the Islamist movement Hezbollah in the eastern part of Lebanon.
One of the targeted sites had "underground infrastructure, which is used for the development and production of weapons," the army added, adding that it also struck facilities "on the Syrian-Lebanese border used by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons" into Lebanon.
The military today condemned the "violation" of the ceasefire agreement that ended the November 27 war between Israel and the pro-Iranian movement.
Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah began on October 8, 2023, the day after the Palestinian movement Hamas, an ally of the Lebanese movement, attacked Israel.
That attack started the war in the Gaza Strip.
