The warning followed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's first interview since the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.

In an interview with the aforementioned media house in Tehran, Araghchi criticized the American president for the proposal to "relocate" the Palestinians from Gaza, proposing that the Israelis move to Greenland.

Araghchi said in an interview that Iran had made it clear that any attack on its nuclear facilities would be met with an "immediate response".

However, he believes that the US and Israel will not do "that crazy thing", because it would bring the whole region into a "big catastrophe".

Iran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful and for civilian purposes, while the West, especially the US, believes that Iran is enriching uranium to make nuclear weapons.

After Trump withdrew the US from the nuclear deal in 2018, Iran resumed uranium enrichment. Araghchi said it would take much more than "nice words" for Iran to restart negotiations with the US on a new deal, given what happened to the previous one.

Speaking about the situation in the region, Araghchi admitted that Iran's allies, such as Hamas and Hezbollah, have been weakened.

While Iranian citizens hope that an agreement with the West could lead to the lifting of sanctions and an improvement in the economic situation, inflation in Iran is estimated at 50 percent, while unemployment among young people is close to 20 percent, and the currency is at a record level, writes Sky News.
