They are getting ready, 1.5 million soldiers by 2026; Putin moves to NATO?
Boris Pistorius, the German defense minister, warned of a possible threat of a Russian attack on NATO member countries by 2029 or 2030.
According to him, Russia will probably increase its armed forces to 1.5 million soldiers by 2026.
"Given the growth of the Russian army, there is a theoretical possibility that Russia will try to attack NATO countries in 2029-2030. That is why it is especially important to ensure the defense capabilities of the Alliance until that time," Pistorius told Lithuanian media, as reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
Pistorius stated that military experts are closely monitoring the situation in Russia.
"The military industry is developing significantly there, they produce a large number of tanks and planes, which means that the Russian armed forces are growing significantly," said Pistorius.
He noted that military experts believe that "Putin could reorganize his armed forces by 2029/2030 in order to create the right conditions for a possible theoretical attack on other countries," including NATO countries.
"Therefore, we must ensure our defense capability until that time. This task, of course, requires both time and money, but we are committed to that goal," Pistorius concluded.
