Fico: It's a coup d'état
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico revealed that the country's intelligence service had warned him that there was a plan to stage a coup.
Fico said that the Slovak opposition is behind this plan and is preparing to overthrow it with a coup d'état.
"I can't name anyone, I can't mention the circumstances, but I can say with full seriousness and responsibility that the Slovak opposition is preparing for 'Maidan,'" Fico said, as reported by the Greek portal pronews.gr.
"The Slovak opposition is preparing to occupy government buildings and cooperate with foreign forces," Fico said further, commenting on the statement of the SIS (Slovak Intelligence Service) about the operation to destabilize the country.
The SIS previously announced that they had received information about the organization of a long-term operation to influence the destabilization of Slovakia.
The Slovak opposition on Tuesday accused Slovakia's prime minister of laying the groundwork for the country's exit from the European Union, but dropped its proposal for a vote of no confidence in him and his government, Reuters reported.
The opposition said it withdrew the motion in protest of Fico's decision to close the debate to the public, saying it would discuss classified information.
