There are survivors in the crash of a passenger plane that crashed at the Aktau airport in Kazakhstan. There were 72 people in the aircraft, passengers and crew members, and according to the latest information, 27 people survived.
An Azerbaijani plane on a flight from Baku to Grozny was previously diverted to a Kazakh airport due to dense fog in Grozny, but apparently collided with a flock of birds during the flight, causing engine failure and the plane to crash.
This was also confirmed by the Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport "Rosaviation", which issued an official announcement regarding the crash of the "AZAL" plane.
"Today, around 9:30 Moscow time, an Embraer 190 plane belonging to the Azerbaijani airline AZAL crashed during landing at Kazakhstan's Aktau airport, which is located on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea.
The plane was flying from Baku to Grozny. According to preliminary information, after collided with a flock of birds, due to an emergency situation on the plane, the captain of the plane decided to divert to an alternative airport, choosing Aktau for the destination," the Russians said.
"Search and rescue operations are carried out by the operational services of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Russian Air Force maintains communication with the carrier AZAL, as well as with the aviation authorities of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan," the statement said.
There were three children among the passengers, and they are in the hospital. Official data on the victims and survivors will be announced soon.
In the meantime, videos of surviving passengers being pulled out from the plane are also appearing on social networks.
