Mysterious drones over US: Alert at airport; "This has gone too far"
Mysterious drones over New York have temporarily closed the runways at the Orange County Airport.
Gov. Kathy Hochul called for federal help. New York's Stewart International Airport was forced to close its runways for about an hour due to "drone activity in the airspace," Gov. Hochul said in a statement.
The incident began after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported a drone sighting around 9:40 p.m., a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed.
The runways reopened at 10:45 p.m., and flight schedules were not affected by the closure. "This has gone too far," Hochul said.
Drones have been seen over New York, New Jersey and other northeastern US states, causing concern among local residents.
