Deir ez-Zor fell down

According to the agencies, Deir ez-Zor fell after intense fighting with Kurdish-led forces backed by the US.

One of the commanders of the Hayʼat Tahrir al-Sham organization that leads the rebel alliance, Hassan Abdul Ghani, announced last night that the rebel forces have fully taken control of the city of Deir ez-Zor in the east of Syria, reports Reuters.

The Kurdish Syrian Democratic Front (SDF) held the city under control for only a few days.

The SDF earlier said it had recaptured Deir ez-Zor and the area west of the Euphrates River from forces loyal to the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad on Friday.

As a reminder, Assad fled the country on Sunday, and was given refuge by Russia, after the rebels captured Damascus after just a few days of fighting, during which city after city was captured.
