"We cannot afford to lose anyone in this region, neither Georgia, nor Moldova, nor Ukraine. We must stand together in defense against Moscow. Ukraine imposed sanctions on Ivanishvili and his associates, 19 individuals who sell the interests of Georgia and its people.

Just signed a decree implementing the relevant NSDC decision.

These sanctions target the segment of the current Georgian government that is handing the country over to Putin. This is exactly what the ongoing protests in Georgia are about. We call on Europe, America and the whole world to do the same, to act with determination and principle. It is crucial for our partners to speak up now, to take a clear stand on what is happening - and to act.

In international relations, if you do not react in time or do not act without principles, the consequences can last for decades, leaving countries deprived of their freedom," Zelensky said in his address.

Let's recall that earlier today Zelensky announced the introduction of sanctions as a response to the actions of the current Georgian government.

In his address last night, Zelensky condemned the behavior of the Georgian government, accusing it of "pushing the country into obvious dependence on Russia" and of opposing the interests of its people, the European Justice portal reported.

Zelensky pointed out that the behavior of the Georgian authorities is "shameful" and emphasized that when Moscow praises that government, it is clear who it is currently working for. He added that currently "protests are dispersing" in Tbilisi and that this is not in the interest of Georgia.

Protests in Georgia have been going on for almost a week, after the Prime Minister of that country, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced that the issue of negotiations on joining the European Union will be postponed until 2028.

The Baltic states have already announced sanctions against Georgian officials who participated in the violent suppression of protests, including former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.
