Russians shot at NATO; Germany enters the war? We are on the verge of...
A Russian warship fired at a German helicopter over the Baltic Sea, the media reports.
That situation caused new fears that the Third World War could really begin. The crew of the Russian ship allegedly fired signal ammunition at a NATO helicopter that was on a reconnaissance mission, the German news agency in Brussels learned, and Bild also reported.
The news about this incident was announced by the German Minister of Defense, Annalena Baerbock, during the meeting of the defense ministers of the NATO member countries in Brussels.
However, she did not provide further details.
A spokesman for the German Ministry of Defense has also not yet confirmed this report.
As the Daily Mail later pointed out, signal munitions are used to fire warning shots rather than an attack, but this type of incident is a sign of how close NATO and Russia are to a direct confrontation.
Meanwhile, Baerbock stated today that she cannot rule out the possibility of deploying Bundeswehr soldiers in Ukraine as part of a future ceasefire agreement between Russian and Ukrainian forces.
This was published by Politico, which states that Baerbock said this before the meeting of the heads of diplomacy of NATO member countries in Brussels, where the war in Ukraine is being discussed.
It is reported that Baerbock said there that "the German side will support everything that serves peace in the future" and added that Berlin will do it "with all its strength".
The Brussels site recalls that in recent weeks, the arrival of thousands of North Korean soldiers in Ukraine has revived the discussion on whether European troops should be sent to help the army under the command of Kyiv to defend itself against Russia and its allies in the framework of a coordinated peace agreement.
It is said that the issue has been raised again although there is still no such agreement on the ground. It is also recalled that the closest associates of Donald Trump, the newly elected American president, are reportedly considering putting pressure on European governments to disperse soldiers who would cover the demarcation line that would separate Russia and Ukraine as part of a plan for an immediate end to the war.
