Truce violated: Israel attacked, there are dead

As announced by the Lebanese Ministry of Health, one person was killed in an Israeli air attack on the town of Marjayoun in the south of Lebanon, about 10 kilometers from the border with Israel.

Lebanon's State Security announced that an Israeli drone attack killed a member of its forces while on duty in Nabati, 12 kilometers from the border. State security called it a "flagrant violation" of the ceasefire, reports Reuters.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar told his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrow that Israel is not "violating the ceasefire agreements, but implementing them in response to Hezbollah's violations of the ceasefire," Al Jazeera reported.

"The presence of Hezbollah operatives south of (the) Litani River is a fundamental violation of the agreement and they must move north," he added.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced earlier today that in a telephone conversation, Barrow stressed "the need for all parties to respect the ceasefire in Lebanon.

The cease-fire, which took effect on November 27, stipulates that Israel will not conduct offensive military operations against civilian, military or other state targets in Lebanon, while Lebanon will prevent any armed groups, including Hezbollah, from conducting operations against Israel.
