Trump decides: Grenell will hold an important position?

Grenell, who was also the US ambassador to Germany, would play a key role in Trump's efforts to end the war, if he is ultimately elected to the post.

Although there is currently no US special envoy dedicated exclusively to resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, sources point out that Trump is considering the possibility of establishing that position.

The same sources, however, note that it is not certain that Grenell would accept the offer.

During the election campaign, Trump promised to quickly end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, although he did not specify how he would achieve this. Some of Grenell's views could cause concern among Ukrainian leaders, according to Reuters.

During a Bloomberg roundtable in July, he proposed the creation of "autonomous zones" as a solution to the conflict. He has also signaled his opposition to Ukraine's NATO membership in the near future, a position he shares with many of Trump's allies.

Grenell did not respond to a request for comment on the allegations.

During Trump's election campaign, he was one of the leading candidates for Homeland Security Secretary, but Florida Senator Marco Rubio was ultimately chosen for the post.
