This is Trump's plan for Serbia?

Biljana Sahrimanjan Obradović from the Center for Strategic Analysis stated that based on the conversations she had in Washington and New York, she believes that administration of Donald Trump will not change its policy towards Serbia and the Western Balkans.

She adds that the administration of the newly elected US president will be more actively involved in the efforts for the region to join the EU.

"Discussing with their officials in various institutions, the most important in the whole world, I concluded that they are of the opinion that they will not change their policy towards Serbia and the Western Balkans and that they will be more actively involved in the efforts for our region to enter the EU regardless of who will be at the head of America," she said on Tuesday for Tanjug, adding that it is in American interest for the entire region to be integrated into the EU.

She says that she believes that the arrival of the 47th president in the White House will not lead to a thawing of relations between Russia and the USA or the lifting of certain sanctions, which is evident, she points out, according to the attitude that Trump had towards Russia in his first term.

"Now Trump can only have an even worse relationship, because everything he said and warned Europe about came true because Europe did not listen to him," she said and assessed that Trump's attitude can only be more rigorous.

She says that the new administration, following Trump's pre-election promise to resolve the conflict on the Russia-Ukraine line within 24 hours, has set to work by January 20 because the whole world is looking at him and asking if he can do it.

She states that both foreign and Serbian analysts agree that both the Russian and Ukrainian armies will make the most of the time for fierce fighting until January 20, because they do not know what will happen.

When asked how she sees the outcome of relations after the arrival of Trump for Europe, Ukraine and Russia, she says that neither Europe nor America will want to distance themselves from each other.

"As for the whole situation with Europe, it will certainly not want to move away from America or to become independent, because Europe is strong as long as it has USA as an ally. The US will not move away from Europe either, because the largest number of members in NATO are European countries," she said and stated that USA is expanding its influence precisely through NATO and its allies by strengthening the army, economy, health, and education.

They will try, as she adds, to persuade new countries to be part of NATO, including in the Western Balkans.

"I think there will be some initiatives by the Republicans, for some countries to join NATO after the Western Balkans, because for some countries the path to the EU went through NATO, because the reforms are the same," said Sahrimanjan.

She also says that she believes that after the election of Trump as the president of the USA, Russia is "in a bit of a puzzle", because they were sure of what they were doing with Joseph Biden and the Democrats.

"They knew that the NATO boot would not set foot on Russian or Ukrainian territory, that long-range missiles would not be approved in the depths of Russian territory, while they did not know that with Trump," she said and pointed out that Moscow does not know which of Trump's people will make decisions and what they will propose, what they will approve, whether they will reach for everything that the democrats weren't.
