Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the public regarding the terrorist attack in Moscow, saying that Russia will punish all those responsible for the deaths of civilians.

He called what happened in Crocus a bloody and barbaric terrorist attack.

He also said that anti-terrorist measures have been introduced in Russia.

"Like the Nazis once, they planned to carry out a demonstration execution. All the perpetrators, organizers and orderers will bear the punishment, whoever they are. We will punish everyone who stands behind the terrorists who planned that attack on Russia and our people," said Putin.

Putin pointed out that all four terrorists who participated in the attack in Moscow were arrested.

He also said that after the attack in Moscow, the terrorists headed for Ukraine, where a "window" was organized for them to escape.

"Dozens of peaceful, innocent people became victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus. We will provide the necessary assistance to all.'' 

"The shooters headed for Ukraine, where a 'window' was prepared for them," he said.

He expressed his gratitude to the ambulance crews, firefighters and rescuers who did everything to save people's lives.

As he said, the victims of the terrorist attack were compatriots, among others, children, women and youth.

"I express my sincere condolences to everyone who lost their loved ones"

Putin also said that Russian citizens know very well what the threat of terrorism is, and that Moscow is counting on cooperation with all countries that share this pain.

"In our multi-ethnic society, Russia has repeatedly gone through the most difficult, sometimes unbearable trials, but has become even stronger. The same will happen now," these were the words of Vladimir Putin in his address to the citizens of Russia.

Russian president also announced that March 24 will be declared a day of mourning in Russia.
