Let's recall that the fear that North Korea could join the war in Ukraine has been growing for days, the media is receiving all kinds of information - from the fact that the information is completely incorrect, to the fact that North Korean soldiers are already in Russia.

However, this morning the latest information comes from South Korea that a special unit from North Korea has been sent to the front line in Ukraine.

"DIA representatives informed the South Korean legislators about this knowledge during a regular parliamentary check. There is no precise information yet that North Korean troops have been deployed on the Ukrainian front, however, there is a possibility that some North Korean special units have been sent to the front," MPs Lee Seong-kweun of the ruling People's Power Party and MP Park Sun-won of the main opposition Democratic Party confirmed to Yonhap Agency.

The DIA also said that the mobilization and deployment of troops to the front lines in Ukraine, including the Kursk region in western Russia, appears to be imminent.

Washington worried

Washington is concerned about the possibility that Russia may want to use North Korean soldiers in combat or in support of combat operations against Ukrainian forces, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said.

He said that several thousand North Korean soldiers have approached the border of Russia and Ukraine, in the direction of the Kursk region.

As he added, a smaller number of soldiers are already present in Russia's Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces invaded in August, Unian reports.

"We continue to monitor the situation closely in consultation with our Ukrainian partners and other allies," Ryder said Tuesday evening.

According to the Pentagon, North Korea has sent about 10,000 troops to eastern Russia for training, and they are expected to join Russian forces "near Ukraine in the next few weeks."

Earlier today, North Korean media reported that the country's foreign minister, Choe Son-hui, had arrived in the Russian city of Vladivostok, but the purpose and details of her visit were not specified.
