Assassination in Austria: Mayor killed
The mayor of the municipality of Kirchberg, Franz Hofer, was killed in today's attack in Austria, which is why the police started a large-scale operation.
As confirmed for Krone, the attacker is on the run.
Immediately after the horrific discovery, all police units were sent to the scene. Also, special units were alerted, and an armored Cobra car arrived at the scene of the crime.
The killer, who is believed to be a hunter, who was in the field or in the forest, after shooting, headed in an unknown direction.
According to the first information, the emergency services were informed about the shooting at 8:30 a.m., and the search for the killer has been ongoing ever since.
For now, nothing is known about the motive. Police initially only confirmed an unspecified incident involving a firearm.

The office of state governor Thomas Stelzer confirmed to Krone at 9:45 a.m. that the mayor of Kirchberg ob der Donau was killed.
