Negotiations started
Negotiations on the release of hostages and a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip have begun in Doha, CNN reported, citing an unnamed source.
Previously, the media reported that the main negotiators from the USA, Israel and Qatar should start negotiations on Sunday.
This is the first round of high-level talks in more than two months, and according to CNN, US officials have pushed for renewed talks following the killing of one of Hamas's leaders, Yahya Sinwar.
Egypt previously proposed a two-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza during which the four Israeli hostages would be freed.
The proposal would also include the release of several Palestinian prisoners and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has again called for an immediate ceasefire, saying that Israeli military operations in the northern part of the Gaza Strip make the life of the Palestinian population unsustainable.
