North Korea's state news agency KCNA announced on Saturday that a downed South Korean military drone had landed in North Korean territory, Reuters reported.

South Korean official Yoo Yong-won told Reuters that the drones in the Pyongyang photos appeared to be surveillance drones made by Sungwoo Engineering and delivered to the South Korean military in 2023.

KCNA said in its program that if any "violation of the DPRK's (North Korea's) land, air and waters by South Korean military assets is discovered and reconfirmed, it will be considered a serious military provocation against the DPRK's sovereignty."

"This means a declaration of war and an immediate attack," it was broadcast on North Korean television.

Newsweek contacted the South Korean Ministry of Defense for comment, which said that "Pyongyang's unilateral claims are neither worth checking nor do they deserve a response," reports Reuters.

Seoul argues that any comment on Pyongyang's claims would amount to engaging in a political ruse.

As a reminder, earlier this month, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned again that he could use nuclear weapons in potential conflicts with South Korea and the US, which he accused of strengthening military cooperation.
