Zelensky, you are left in the lurch

As the Kyiv Post reminds, the Ukrainian army is facing a serious shortage of manpower and ammunition on the battlefield, while arguments in the US Congress continue, which have caused uncertainty regarding the future of Western support for Kyiv.

Reflecting on that situation, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on that occasion: "It has already lasted too long. I know it too, you know it".

"I'm not going to predict exactly when it will be done, but we are working to do it as soon as possible ... but today I can't make concrete predictions," he told reporters at a press conference in the Ukrainian capital, which has been bombarded with rockets.

Just to recall, since last year, the Republicans in the House of Representatives of the US Congress have been blocking a comprehensive package of aid to Ukraine, shifting the focus of the discussion to the immigration policy of President Joe Biden.

Washington has so far been Ukraine's most important military ally, providing them with tens of billions of dollars in support since Moscow's February 2022 invasion.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to the US, saying that delaying aid costs Ukrainians lives and territory, while Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said he was shocked that the aid package had not yet been unlocked.

However, Sullivan added that despite the setbacks, he is "confident" that the impasse will be overcome.

"We will direct that money where we are supposed to," he said.
