The world is on the verge of World War III?

Ukraine's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance in the current circumstances will cause the Third World War, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjárto told reporters on the sidelines of International Gas Forum, which is being held today in St. Petersburg.

"In the event that Ukraine is accepted into NATO under the current circumstances, it would mean the outbreak of the Third World War. We have always advocated against a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO," said Péter Szijjárto, TASS reported.

At the previous NATO summit in Vilnius in July 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his displeasure because member countries did not want to specify a deadline for inviting Ukraine to join NATO.

After the summit, Ukraine received assurances that it would join the alliance once it met the necessary conditions. NATO has repeatedly emphasized that Ukraine cannot join the alliance while the country is at war.
