They decided: The state of emergency introduced
In the Amur Region, in the Russian Far East, a state of emergency was introduced due to the incident at the "Pioneer" gold mine, in the Zeya district.
In that accident, 13 people were trapped under the rubble due to the collapse of the rock, the government of the area announced.
"A regional state of emergency was introduced in the Amur region due to the incident at the Pioneer mine in the Zeya district in order to mobilize all forces and resources. This decision was made at an extraordinary meeting held by the regional governor," the local government said in a statement.
A representative of the emergency service told RIA Novosti that 13 people were in the mine at the time of the collapse and that they have not been contacted yet.
The group of rescuers, mostly from the Russian Republic of Yakutia, consists of 25 employees, and four pieces of equipment arrived with them.
In addition, the Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations flew from the Khabarovsk Territory to the crash site, Interfax writes.
Interfax was told by operational services that, according to preliminary information, people are at a depth of between 100 and 150 meters, and for now there is no information about possible victims.
