After that, the man allegedly went to his elderly mother's house and shot her in the head: the 84-year-old woman was seriously injured.

In the end, the perpetrator took his own life.

The attacker was a 45-year-old employee of a forestry company in Sardinia.
 

Provincial Carabinieri commanders at the police station in Nuoro are currently investigating the massacre, working on a detailed reconstruction of the dynamics of the event and the possible motive behind the murders.

The streets where the massacre took place were closed by the police, and the on-duty prosecutor and pathologist were also present at the scene.
