"The War Begins"; Airstrikes on Lebanon; Hezbollah strikes back: Israelis wounded

In yesterday's attack, the walkie-talkies of Hezbollah fighters exploded, as did the solar panels on the houses.

The new explosions killed 20 people, but the number could rise. More than 450 were wounded.

Israel is responsible for the explosions, which announced the beginning of a "new phase of the war".

A preliminary investigation revealed that the hundreds of pagers that exploded across Lebanon were pre-programmed to detonate, a security source told AFP.

The source claims that the data shows that the devices contained explosive materials placed next to the battery.

Israel began airstrikes on southern Lebanon

The Israeli military said it carried out airstrikes overnight against Hezbollah's infrastructure and weapons storage in southern Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the Israeli Air Force hit Hezbollah infrastructure in six locations - Chihine, Tayiba, Blida, Meis el Jabal, Aitarun and Kfarkela - and a weapons depot in the Hiam area.

In addition, IS targeted "several areas" in southern Lebanon with artillery strikes, the army said.
