"Please evacuate because the flood wave can be several meters high. This means that the whole city will be flooded," Kolbiarz said, as reported by the BBC.

Two military helicopters arrived in Nysa last night to help repair the damaged embankment of the river Nysa Kłodzka. Large bags were placed at the site of damage to the embankment, reports the Polish agency PAP.

River levels are falling in some parts of Poland, local officials said. The mayor of the city of Kłodzko, Michał Piszko, said that the water has receded and that this is an indication that the worst is over.

The Polish government has declared a state of natural disaster due to the floods, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that 233 million euros will be allocated for the victims of the floods in the country and that Poland will also seek help from the EU.

At least 16 people died in floods that hit Central and Eastern Europe at the weekend due to heavy rains brought by Cyclone Boris, as reported by the BBC.
