Most of the water that flows from Slovakia, Poland and Romania will not go to Serbia
Head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Luka Čaušić, said today that "most of the water flowing from Slovakia, Poland and Romania", which were affected by the catastrophic floods caused by Cyclone "Boris", will not go to Serbia, but that the greatest attention is focused on the Danube , although the emergency flood defense line is not expected to be exceeded.
Čaušić told RTS that the water level of the Danube near Bezdan has risen by one meter compared to yesterday. He said that no problems are expected near Šabac, on Sava river.
"The Danube may eventually overflow in the part of the Kamenjar settlement in Novi Sad, these are literally cottages located in the course of the river," said Čaušić.
He added that there were no problems with watercourses overflowing in Serbia during the previous few days of intense rainfall, because the riverbeds have almost dried up due to the long-term drought or have reduced water levels.
