World in panic: Corona generation is coming; "They bite, they kick..."
Although it seems that the corona virus pandemic has fallen into oblivion, most of the consequences of this scourge are only now being paid for, especially when it comes to health and education, writes the Guardian.
Along with education, upbringing is also under public scrutiny and, according to the latest research and the conclusions of experts in England, it is predicted that bad behavior among students after the measures against Covid 19 will reach its peak.
According to the Guardian, students who were desocialized and educated at home during the pandemic are now entering their traditionally most difficult years, and in the wake of the pandemic, 50 English secondary schools have suspended more than a quarter of their students.
Teachers returning to work next month will face a worrying "behaviour peak" as the younger children hardest hit by the pandemic enter the teenage years known for peak school behaviour.
"The latest official data, for the year 2022-2023, show that the fastest increase in expulsions and suspensions was among younger students," the text states.
Patrick Roach, general secretary of the teachers' union, said there was "no doubt that the deterioration in behavior has grown into a crisis since the pandemic, and he warned it could get worse".
He added that an increasing number of teachers reported being cursed, threatened, pushed, kicked, bitten or punched and assaulted by students carrying weapons.
Older students, in Years 9 and 10, received at least one suspension in 2022-2023, also well above pre-pandemic levels.
The high school dropout rate increased most rapidly among 7th and 8th graders, especially among girls.
Andrew Old, a high school teacher and blogger who identified this negative trend among younger students and girls, said that for nine- and ten-year-olds, the next few years can be the most challenging.
However, it may depend on whether the schools have successfully dealt with the behavior of those students in the years when they attend secondary school, Blic reported.
