Borrell expressed concern
EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell expressed his concern about the Israeli attack on holy places and the messages of the Israeli extremist minister Ben Gvir.
This came in response to a call by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, in which he called on the United Nations Security Council and all members of the international community to immediately take effective measures to stop illegal Israeli measures that violate the historical and legal status quo in occupied Jerusalem's holy sites.
"Regional stability is at stake," said Borrell in a post on the X platform.
Borrell stressed that such concern is completely legitimate and that the international community must deal with it.
Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir called for the construction of a synagogue in the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex.
The Jordanian Foreign Minister previously called on the Security Council and all members of the international community to immediately take effective measures to stop illegal Israeli measures that violate the historical and legal status quo in the occupied holy sites of Jerusalem.
"As an occupying power, Israel is legally responsible for protecting the historical and legal status quo. The Security Council must adopt a binding resolution preventing Israel from further violations and escalation at Al Aqsa Mosque. It must do so before it is too late," Safadi said on X platform.
He assessed that the situation is already explosive and that the hate-driven ideology that allows the design of the mosque to be changed will ignite a spark that will, as he stated, cause dangerous consequences.
