Trump warns Netanyahu: "The killing must stop"
The candidate of the Republican Party in the upcoming presidential elections in the USA, Donald Trump, said that in his last meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he told the Israeli Prime Minister to quickly end the war.
"He knows what he's doing, and I encouraged him to finish it quickly. It must be finished quickly; they must win and be done with it. The killing must stop," Trump said, as reported by Reuters.
Trump called pro-Palestinian protesters in the US "pro-Hamas thugs" and "jihad sympathizers" and added that if elected, he would arrest and deport them.
"I will give Israel the support it needs to win, but I want it to win quickly," Trump said.
Speaking about the Vice President of the USA and the candidate of the Democratic Party in the elections, Kamala Harris, he stated that she "maneuvered to get the support of poisonous anti-Semites within her party".
"From the beginning, Harris worked to tie Israel's hands behind its back, demanding an immediate ceasefire, which would only give Hamas time to regroup and launch a new attack like the one on October 7," Trump said.
He added that if Harris wins, "radical leftists and Hamas sympathizers will not only cause chaos in the streets but will lead the foreign policy of the US and the White House, and Israel will disappear."
Trump and Netanyahu denied media reports that they discussed a potential Gaza ceasefire deal and the release of hostages on Wednesday.
"Contrary to media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not speak with former President Donald Trump yesterday," Netanyahu's office announced. Trump said he had not discussed this with the Israeli Prime Minister but might do so.
Netanyahu visited the US in July, during which he spoke before the US Congress and met with US President Joseph Biden, Vice President, and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, as well as with Trump at his residence in Florida.
Egypt, the US, and Qatar are leading negotiations on a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, and Washington has repeatedly reiterated that reaching that agreement would lead to a reduction in tension and the threat of a wider conflict in the Middle East.
