After considering the legal arguments, Judge Andrew Meneray KC decided to reveal his identity, Sky News reported.

It is about Axel Rudakubana, who will turn 18 in six days and who is in youth detention.

A Sky News reporter reported that the judge listened to legal arguments for 20 minutes before ruling that Rudakubana's identity could be revealed and that this was unusual because under the law, anyone under the age of 18 has legal protection and he's identity cannot be revealed.

"It's rare, but it's clear that the judge was persuaded by the legal arguments," said a Sky News reporter.

Rudakubana killed three children and injured 13 people, including 11 children, in a knife attack at a dance school in Southport on Monday.

He was born in Cardiff and grew up in Banks, Lancashire.

Three girls under the age of 10 were killed in the attack, and five children are in critical condition.

Two adults who tried to protect the children are also in serious condition.
