Major conflict between the police and protesters in Venezuela: Three people were killed and 44 injured VIDEO
At least three people were killed and 44 injured in clashes between the police and demonstrators who protested in several parts of Venezuela.
The protests were held after the country's electoral commission announced that current president Nicolas Maduro had won, the organization that monitors the situation in national hospitals announced today, as reported by the Italian Agenzia Nova.
The most incidents were recorded in the state of Aragua.
The non-governmental organization for human rights, Foro Penal, announced that 46 people were arrested across the country.
Security forces in Venezuela fired tear gas and rubber bullets at people who took to the streets of the capital Caracas to protest.
The opposition in Venezuela contested Maduro's victory and claimed that its candidate Edmundo González Urrutia won by a landslide with 73.2 percent of the vote, while Maduro accused the opposition of calling for a coup.
Venezuela's National Electoral Council announced yesterday that Maduro won 51.2 percent of the vote and won the presidential election, securing a third term in office.
González Urrutia won 44.2 percent of the vote, according to the Electoral Commission.
