Knife attack in England; At least eight people were injured

Emergency services said they received eight patients with stab wounds, who were transferred to three hospitals, including Alder Hey Children's Hospital, reports Reuters.

The British police stated that the man suspected of being the attacker was arrested and that a knife was found in his possession, and that there was no longer any danger to citizens, who were previously called to avoid the area around the scene of the incident on Hart Street.

"It's the worst thing I've ever seen in my life"

Radio 5 reporters spoke to a man who works on the street where the attack took place.

He told them he saw a masked man who refused to pay for a taxi ride, after which he fled.

Moments later, one of his employees called him and told him to leave the store immediately.

He says he saw young girls bleeding. He called the police.

"Then the ambulances started arriving, it was chaos. It's the worst thing I've ever seen in my life," he said.

He says the man entered the building where the children were. Neighbors tried to help, including one adult who was injured, he added.

At least eight people were injured today in a knife attack in Southport, in the north-west of England, in connection with which a man was arrested, the British emergency services announced.
