Meteorologists say that the peak will be on Wednesday, July 24, when it will be around 39 degrees in Madrid, 43 in Seville, and 37 in Lisbon, writes "Daily Mail".

However, the highest temperature is expected in Marrakech - 46 degrees Celsius, while the temperature is expected to drop by the end of the week.

Meanwhile, the heatwave brought brutal storms to large parts of northern Europe.

In France, more than 45,000 lightning strikes were recorded over the weekend in what is believed to be the worst storm surge of the year.

The storm that began on Saturday, July 20, led to flooding in the Haute-Marne region in the northeast of the country. Five people were taken to the hospital after the strong storm, mostly due to hypothermia.

In some parts of the southeastern coast of France, as well as in Corsica, hail fell that was so large that locals and visitors were warned to beware.

In some parts of the country, floods followed, residents were evacuated from their houses, roads were blocked, and several cases of power outages were recorded.

The storm also hit parts of the eastern Netherlands when strong winds blocked highway traffic and many people were trapped in their homes.

The Austrian Alps were also affected by floods and torrents, rivers burst their banks, and streets turned into streams.

The situation was particularly dire in the town of Kremsbrook in Corinthia, with sirens going off in the middle of the night as water surrounded houses.

In Germany and Austria, in two separate cases, two young mountaineers, aged 18 and 22, were killed by lightning.
