Biden is back
U.S. President Joe Biden will return to his duties at the White House today after being treated for the coronavirus.
According to the official schedule, the president should arrive at the White House in the afternoon.
Since last Wednesday, Biden has been in his home in Delaware, where he was in isolation, because he contracted the coronavirus.
His doctor, Kevin O'Connor, said that the president finished treatment with the drug "paxlovid" yesterday and that the symptoms of Covid 19 "have almost completely disappeared".
"His lungs are clean. The president continues to perform all his presidential duties," he said.
Biden announced on Sunday that he is withdrawing from the re-election campaign, after refusing to do so for the past month, while supporting US Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee in the November election.
He expressed his belief that "it is in the best interest of his party and the country" to step down and focus only on fulfilling his duties as president for the rest of his term.
