Ursula von der Leyen remains at the head of the European Commission
Today, the European Parliament elected Ursula von der Leyen for a new mandate at the head of the European Commission.
In the European Parliament (EP) at around 13.10, voting began on the election of the current President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, for a second five-year term in that position.
Around 13.30 it was over. Voting was secret, and in order to be elected, Ursula von der Leyen had to receive the support of an absolute majority of members of parliament, that is, at least 361 out of 720 MPs.
Earlier today, Ursula von der Leyen addressed those present in the EP and presented her vision and plans for the next five years, if she is elected, after which a debate was held with the members of the EP.
