Hungary responded to the EU: When they threaten us, we...
The EU leadership's refusal to negotiate with Hungary and the threat of a boycott will not force Budapest to suspend its peacekeeping mission to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó, told RIA Novosti.
"All the pro-war politicians in Europe jumped right after the start of this peace mission. And they threatened us with a boycott, with refusing to negotiate with each other, they threatened to ignore us. You know, attacks like this don't deter us from continuing the peace mission, they encourage us to make more efforts to promote a peaceful resolution of this war in Ukraine," Szijjártó said.
This is how he answered the question of whether the Hungarian EU presidency received real threats of practical steps from the leadership of the European Union after the peace mission of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
At the same time, Szijjártó noted that the Prime Minister's administration is already used to this kind of attack.
"We are a patriotic government, we are a non-mainstream government, we are under financial sanctions from the European Union. So I don't see how they can threaten us more than now," he added.
