"The USA is dragging us into the war, and the Russians are our friends": France is totally changing its policy
The leader of the left-wing New Popular Front coalition, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, attended, not so long ago, the "Immortal Regiment" march in Moscow on May 9, 2018, holding a portrait of French pilot Maurice de Seynes, pilot of the Normandy-Niemen fighter squadron.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon announced back then that he would spend three days in Russia, where he would attend the commemoration of the Victory Day of the Red Army over the Nazis, the Wehrmacht and the SS divisions, and that it was the Red Army that enabled the liberation of the entire continent in World War II.
"My coming here is a public action designed to convey the message: Russians are our friends," Mélenchon said at the time.
The leader of the left-wing New People's Front coalition, which triumphed in the just-ended parliamentary elections in France, noted that it was a good moment to show the Russian people his empathy.
"As you know, 20 million Russians died in this war. The "Immortal Regiment" is an interesting event. People are marching with photos of those who died during the war in Moscow, but I want to mention that they are also coming out in Paris. I haven't decided whose photo I will carry, but I will definitely bring it," said the politician and clarified that he will not participate in the Parade on Red Square.
"Mond" then reported that during his three-day visit to Russia, Mélenchon repeatedly spoke about the thawing of Franco-Russian relations and condemned France's dependence on the United States.
In addition, the leader of the Recalcitrant France party emphasized that he is in favor of France's withdrawal from NATO.
"I am in favor of leaving NATO. I think that the USA is dragging us into war again," he added and emphasized that it is a big mistake of France to completely follow the USA and have an aggressive attitude towards Russia.
