In Marseille, demonstrators gathered at a protest against the far-right National Rally (RN) chant "Everybody hates (Jordan) Bardella".
Despite the ban on demonstrations, a protest is held in Rennes, where those gathered carry "anti-fascist banners". After the security forces ordered them to disperse, the demonstrators started shouting "Everyone hates the police", and the atmosphere became tense, according to Le Figaro.
According to projections after the polls close in France, the left-wing coalition New Popular Front is in first place, which could win between 188 and 199 seats in the parliament.
The centrist coalition led by President Emmanuel Macron could win between 164 and 169 seats.
Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally coalition is in last place with an expected 135-143 seats, according to the IFOP poll.
