Hamas accepted: We are ready for negotiations

Hamas accepts the United Nations Security Council resolution on a cease-fire in Gaza and is ready to negotiate the details, the representative of the militant Palestinian group, Sami Abu Zuhri, told Reuters today.

Zuhri said that Hamas accepts the resolution in terms of a ceasefire, the withdrawal of the Israeli army and the exchange of hostages for prisoners from Israel.

He added that Hamas accepts the resolution, and that Washington should ensure that Israel will respect it.

Last night, the UN Security Council adopted U.S. draft resolution that supports the proposal presented by US President Joseph Biden for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.

Russia abstained from voting, while the remaining 14 members of the Security Council voted "in favour" of it.
