Egypt dissatisfied; A new proposal for Israel
Egypt is unhappy with the rate of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip and has proposed that Israel finance supplies entering the enclave.
The report states that the idea was proposed to the United States and Israel in recent days. F
rom Egypt's perspective, Israel is responsible for the situation in the Strip and therefore should be fully responsible for the trucks that cross and the supplies that are "on hold".
The Rafah border crossing, a key entry point for aid, has been closed since Israeli forces seized Gaza from Hamas in early May, and Egypt refuses to let goods through while Israel controls the terminal.
Since then, Egypt and Israel have accused each other of blocking aid shipments through Rafah. The two sides discussed reopening the crossing with US officials on Sunday.
