Iranian Vice President Mohsen Mansouri confirmed reports of the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Iran's state TV also reported that the deaths of Iranian President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian were confirmed, according to the BBC.

Previously, the Iranian news agency Mehr reported on the death of Raisi and Amir Abdollahian, which was confirmed by an unnamed Iranian official for Reuters this morning.

The Iranian government has called an emergency meeting for today following the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the country's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a helicopter crash, the Iranian state news agency IRNA reported.

According to a photo released by the agency, the chair Raisi usually sits on is empty and covered with black tape in memory of the president, CNN reported.

Iran's state media broadcast Islamic prayers between reports of the deaths of Raisi and eight others after the helicopter they were traveling in crashed in Iran's East Azerbaijan province.
