A large Russian army is marching through Moscow: Putin "taught a lesson" to the West VIDEO
Today, Russia is celebrating the 79th anniversary of the victory over fascism, and military parades are being held all over Russia.
The biggest parade will traditionally be held in Moscow, and Russian President Vladimir Putin will also attend it. He spoke ahead of the start of the parade.
"Russian forces are always on alert due to threats from other countries," Vladimir Putin said.
"Russia will do everything in its power to prevent a 'global clash', but it will not allow any threats directed at it," Putin added in an address at a military parade in Moscow.
"The West would like to forget the lesson of the Second World War, but we remember that the fate of humanity was decided in the battles of Moscow and Leningrad," he added.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and parade commander Oleg Salyukov go to greet the participants of the Military Academy of the Ground Forces, cadets of the Military University and the Military Logistics Academy. More than 9,000 soldiers are participating in the solemn event today, including more than 1,000 participants of the Special Military Operation.
The victory parade on Red Square began at nine o'clock.
The guests of honor at the military parade are the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, the President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and President of Guinea-Bissau Sissoco Embaló.
