Biden's stunning statement
US President Joe Biden told radio host Howard Stern about the dark times when his first wife and daughter died in a car accident, and he revealed that he also contemplated suicide.
Namely, Biden gave a surprise interview to a famous radio host during his visit to New York.
In an interview, he spoke of his despair over the death of his wife Nellie and their 13-month-old daughter Naomi in December 1972.
"I don't drink. It's not a virtue, but I never really drank. We had liquor in the house all the time... I just wanted to drink and get drunk, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. You don't have to be crazy to you'd commit suicide. Once you've been to the top of the mountain, you think you'll never be there again, that's how I felt."
"And just for a little while, I thought maybe one day I'd just go to the Delaware Memorial Bridge and jump, but I had two kids and that stopped me," he said in a live radio interview that surprised listeners.
Although he has given several interviews since taking over as president, this appearance has not made it into his public schedule, the Daily Mail reports. He spent Thursday night in New York at the home of actor Michael Douglas and then, before flying back to the White House, stopped by a studio in Manhattan to chat with the legendary Sirius XM radio host.
Also, he revealed some news during the interview," he said that he would be "happy to meet Trump in a debate."
Furthermore, Stern and Biden also touched on the period when Biden was romantically available. As the current American president claims, at that time, as a senator, he was also on the list of the ten most desirable American bachelors.
Throughout the interview, Biden recounted how he worked as a lifeguard in a predominantly black neighborhood in Delaware. He told how he got six people out of trouble.
"Have you ever saved someone's life while you were a lifeguard," Stern asked him, to which Biden replied, "Even a few times." Stern, who has interviewed Trump in the past, did not get into the ongoing Stormy Daniels trial, but did mention the infamous "Attack on the Capitol."
"What are we talking about? Trump picked up the phone and wanted to rig the election. Give me 11,000 votes, those were his words. I don't know how any American who loves this country can vote for him. End of discussion. You can't run." if you're going to rig the election," Stern concluded.
