He mentioned nuclear weapons and chaos ensued
Poland's Council of Ministers has never discussed the issue of placing nuclear weapons on the country's territory, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said.
Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda said in an interview for "Fakt" that "Poland is ready to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory if NATO decides to do so as a sort of response to Russia's deployment in Belarus and Kaliningrad."
"That would be a very serious decision, the circumstances of which should be discussed, first of all, in the Council of Ministers," Sikorski told reporters.
He explained that "so far no discussion has been held on this issue in the Council of Ministers" and reminded that "in accordance with Article 146 of the Polish Constitution, the Council of Ministers is responsible for conducting Polish foreign policy".
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, commenting on Andrzej Duda's statement, said he wanted to meet with him and "find out what prompted him to make such statements."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also responded, saying that the Ministry of Defense of Russia will take all necessary measures to ensure Russia's security in the event that American nuclear weapons are deployed on the territory of Poland.
"The army will, of course, analyze the situation in case of the realization of such plans and in any case will do everything necessary, all the necessary retaliatory steps to guarantee our security," said Peskov.
Moreover, the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, reacted more harshly than Peskov, directly threatening Poland.
