At least 98 people died and more than 150 were injured in the collapse of the roof of a nightclub in the capital of the Dominican Republic, the local authorities announced today the new balance.
More than 24 hours after the accident, there is little chance that there are still any survivors under the rubble of the Jet Set nightclub.
The incident happened on Tuesday at a concert by singer Rubby Perez at the Jet Set nightclub.
The singer is still buried in the rubble, the BBC reported.
Hundreds of people were at the concert, and around 400 rescuers are still searching for survivors.
It is feared that the death toll will increase.
The governor of the northwestern province of Monte Cristi, Nelsy Cruz, was among the dead, and former Major League baseball player Octavio Dotel and Rep. Bray Vargas were among the injured.
Rubio Perez's manager, Enrique Paulino, told reporters at the scene that the concert began just before midnight on Monday and that the roof collapsed nearly an hour later, killing the group's saxophonist.
A video of the moment the ceiling collapsed also surfaced on the X social network.
