Secret document declassified: This is how billions of people will die, minute by minute

The British tabloid "Daily Mail" compiled a detailed description of what the world will look like after the launch of nuclear missiles, based on conversations with American politicians, engineers, scientists, soldiers, crisis management experts, analysts, members of the emergency services and others who have been working on these scenarios for decades.

According to those scenarios, since the Pentagon is considered the main target of a possible nuclear attack, Washington will be the first to be hit by a one-metagon thermo-nuclear bomb, said Andrew Weber, former adviser to the US Secretary of Defense for nuclear, chemical and biological programs.

That attack would mean the beginning of a nuclear war on a global scale and the very likely end of the world within hours. The detonation of a thermonuclear bomb is followed by a bright light and heat that is four to five times higher than the temperature of the core of the Sun. That heat disintegrates concrete, metal, stone and people.

The Pentagon and everyone and everything in it will be reduced to dust within seconds.

The heat wave will then spread several kilometers in every direction at the speed of light, scorching everything in its path.

Those in Washington who are unlucky enough to survive the explosion will have third or fourth degree burns that no one will be able to treat since most of the specialized hospitals are located relatively close to the Pentagon and downtown that no longer exist.

It is estimated that within a few seconds, one million people will be hit by thermal radiation and that 90 percent of them will die.

The impact of the bomb will be stronger than the most powerful hurricanes and will take everything in its path.

Half a minute later, a recognizable mushroom-shaped cloud will form and a deadly suction moment when cars, people, poles will be sucked into the center of the inferno and burned.

After one minute, the mushroom cloud will expand and rise high into the troposphere from where the radioactive particles will cover the Earth.

At that moment, less than two minutes after the detonation, more than a million people are dead, and experts warn that only then will the real hell begin.

Fires will break out everywhere, gas pipelines will explode, chemical factories, tanks, furnaces... creating a fire element that will consume everything in front of it, roads will melt and collapsed buildings will be turned into giant ovens.

Carbon dioxide will seep into cracks, basements, subway stations and suffocate the survivors.

The city of Washington will disappear. Eight, nine minutes later, twenty kilometers from "ground zero" (the Pentagon in this simulation), the survivors will not know what happened to them. Tens of thousands of them will die from lung damage, birds will fall dead from the sky.

There will be no electricity, telephone, emergency services, internet, water pump will not work. The radiation level at that diameter will be lethal.

Those who somehow manage to avoid death from the crash, the shockwave and the firestorm will be all alone and left to fend for themselves.
