World official capitulated to Trump; This is a terrible message to others
When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was called to the White House on Saturday, it was expected that the reason for the emergency meeting with Donald Trump was an attempt to resolve the new 17 percent tariffs imposed by the US on Israeli goods.

As Sky News writes in its analysis of the situation, Israeli officials unofficially suggested it to journalists.
It seemed that Israel would become an example, a kind of test case for the rest of the world, on which Trump also imposed tariffs.
Bibi gave everything and Trump nothing
Trump opened the meeting by calling on Netanyahu to tell the world what Israel will do for the US. And Netanyahu did it, with a lot of respect.
"We will remove the deficit and trade barriers for American goods, which were unnecessarily introduced," said the Israeli prime minister, adding that it "can serve as a model for other countries."
At that time, it was expected that Trump would offer something in return, but that did not happen, Index reported. Instead, the US president turned the conversation to other topics, from Iran to Gaza, without any reference to tariffs.
When Israeli journalist Yanir Korzin from GLZ Radio finally asked the obvious question, whether Trump will reduce tariffs on Israeli goods, the answer was devastating: "I'm not sure... We'll see. We give Israel billions of dollars, 4 billion a year. We care about friends, not enemies."
Undefined, contradictory and, as Sky News notes, perhaps deliberately non-committal.
Trump: I'm honored to lead this trade war
Sky News writes that Israeli officials were speechless after the meeting, and a European diplomat admitted that it is not at all clear whether Trump is willing to negotiate and under what conditions.
Trump spoke for almost an hour about his trade war. When he was asked if some countries could agree with him on customs rates below the basic 10 percent (which are valid in most of the world), he did not answer clearly.
"We were robbed," he said. "Now we will be righteous".
The only thing he offered to Netanyahu was the sentence: "Bibi will reach a free tax base", only to contradict himself a few sentences later.
"It's an honor to lead this trade war. No one else has done it," he said, as world markets sank.
